twinkle twinkle…
Collective poetry writing experiment, 2006.
Below is a demo of twinkle twinkle… based on Cervantes’s Don Quijote de la Mancha and Borges’s Pierre Menard, autor del Quijote. Click on it to view it full screen.
twinkle twinkle… is intended as a new media installation whose participants try to visually rewrite the work of Edgar Allan Poe by sending SMS messages. Each SMS is analyzed and related to other messages previously entered by other users. This semantic relationship is then visually represented as a graph.
The project aims at reconstructing collectively, a visual and spatial representation of related concepts and words in Poe’s work. A trivial habit such as sending text messages becomes thus a creative act, an act of writing.
stars for Ligeia is an online version of the work where you can type sentences in the text box and observe how these words connect and relate to others entered by previous visitors. You can view how the current word constellation was created by pressing “replay”.
There is also a french version of the project called constellations, Swann based on Marcel Proust’s A la recherche du temps perdu as well as a spanish version based on Miguel de Cervantes’s Don Quixote called el cielo del toboso.
